We're looking for pink car owners, to join the 5th annual Pink Car Rally, which will take place in August. Referred to as ‘The Big One’, the Rally will travel the length of Britain, to raise awareness of the Little Princess Trust, a small charity which gives ‘real hair’ wigs to children throughout the UK.
The route is split into six (daily) legs and pink car owners can join for as few, or as many, legs as they want. The rally will leave John O’Groats on Tuesday 14th August and arrive in Land’s End on Sunday 19th August. You'll travel during the daytime, to ensure you are as visible as possible and there will be pre-arranged lunch-stops, where families can come to see the pink parade. The route can be found on www.pink-car-rally.com and updates regarding stopping places will be added to the Little Princess Trust blog and Facebook page, as they are arranged.
Hair-loss at any age is a traumatic experience, but particularly so for children. The ‘real hair’ wigs which the charity gives to both girls and boys are fabulous, and can be styled just like their own hair. They have set a fundraising goal for this year’s Rally of £10,000 and donations can be made via www.justgiving.com/sali-gray-2012 To help them achieve that target, they are also running a ‘Special Pink Raffle’, which has the support of celebrity hairdresser Lee Stafford, who has kindly donated a ‘Couture Cut’ and a Goody Bag of his products, for the lucky winner. Raffle tickets cost £1 each and can be purchased via www.justgiving.com/specialpinkraffle
According to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders Ltd (SMMT) at the end of 2011 there were 7792 pink cars on the UK roads, so the potential pinkness is incredible. If you, or anyone you know, owns a pink car, please contact me for more details. The aim is that after ‘The Big One’, many more families throughout the UK, will know who to contact in the sad event that any of their children might lose their hair.
