Hair Tips: Keep your Fringe Looking Fabulous
Dylan Bradshaw, owner of multi-award winning Dylan Bradshaw Salon, Academy and Blowdry Bar, Dublin reveals how to keep your fringe looking fabulous this season:

The Veil Fringe

·      The full fringe has been in fashion for a few years now, but if you want to rework your current style into a softer, more casual look, simply part your hair in the centre and grow out the full fringe until it is reaches the cheekbones. This look will instantly open your face to leave you with an easy to wear fringe that is bang on trend for this season.

Top Fringe Tips

·      To keep your fringe looking fabulous, make sure you use as little product as possible to avoid it becoming oily too quickly. However, if you do find that it’s still getting oily very quickly, then try washing just the fringe in-between washing your hair to keep it looking fresh. Another top tip is to stop blowdrying your fringe when it still feels slightly damp and let nature do the rest as over drying it can cause your fringe to become flyaway, especially if you’ve got fine hair.

Blowdry Perfection

·      The best way to blowdry a fringe is to bring everything full and forward. If you find you have a cow lick in your fringe then pull the hair in the opposite direction to the way that it wants to go. Also, make sure you have a firm hold on your brush and blow dry your fringe with a good amount of tension as this will help to iron out any kinks and leave your fringe looking super smooth and sleek.

Trim to Maintain

·      Fringes need regular trims to keep them looking healthy and stop them getting in your eyes, Dylan recommends that you get a trim every three weeks. Never be tempted to reach for the scissors at home and trim it yourself, instead always ensure that you pop into your salon to see your stylist, who would be more than happy to give your fringe a quick trim to keep it looking in tip-top shape.

So make sure you follow Dylan’s great advice to help get that picture-perfect fringe! And for more great advice check out www.dylanbradshaw.com

Schwarzkopf on Ice
Schwarzkopf Professional has teamed up with ITV’s Dancing On Ice to style a host of celebrities, and their partners, as they battle it out on the rink.

The show, filmed at Nottingham’s Ice Arena, is set for the biggest series yet as Head Hair Designer Paul Haskell faces an array of fresh challenges:
“I never have a key look or hairstyle for the show as every routine has a different feel depending on the music and costume. The looks we create range from 1920 vintage styles to present day modern trends and from a natural style to something avant garde. It is crucial that the hair becomes an extended part of the costume and draws together the final looks.”

There are a wide range of celebrities in this year’s contest all looking to out-style one another, including Jennifer Ellison, Sugababes’ Heidi Range and Eastenders’ Laila Morse, that don’t shy away from experimenting with their looks.

This year also introduces a number of males who will be looking to impress from their hair to their toes, and Schwarzkopf new (3D)MENSION range looks to impress:
“…this range really helps us play around and create some great shapes for each of the guys.”

Be sure to check out Paul’s latest styles on Dancing On Ice this Sunday at 6.30pm on ITV1.

Super, sleek bob secrets revealed

Dylan Bradshaw, owner of award-winning Dylan Bradshaw Salon, Academy and Blowdry Bar, Dublin, reveals how to achieve the perfect super, sleek bob:

1) Begin by washing and conditioning the hair, before prepping with Kérastase Elixir Ultime to give added softness and shine.

2) The secret to the perfect sleek blow-dry is to put all the effort into the underneath of the hair, which will encourage the top layer to fall into place. So, beginning at the back of the head, section off a bottom layer and pin the rest out of the way.

3) Next, taking 1 and ½ inch segments, blowdry them forward with a round bristle brush, going with the grain of the hair to achieve a sleek finish.

4) Continue blowdrying each section working from the back towards the front of the head and upwards from the nape, before repeating on the other side.

5) Finally, once all the hair has been dried apply a product such as L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni Art Hot Style Constructor which works with the heat to fix styles into place, before running over the ends with straightening irons for added sleekness, leaving you with the perfect smooth bob.

Colouring by Numbers for the UK's Blonde Bombshells
Garnier have scoured the UK for the perfect shade of blonde, and have discovered three main tones!
Blonde sales are up by 16% and 5.3 million women now colour their hair blonde. It’s not surprising. Studies have shown you are more likely to feel younger, more positive and carefree with a golden mane. But with many women finding it impossible to find their perfect shade, Garnier’s team of experts raided the UK to discover the most desirable tones. The problem was simple. UK women crave luxurious, luminous shades that also suit their completions. It’s no lie that blonde hair warms up fair skin tones and is excellent for covering up those greys, but British blondes wish for a fabulous three-dimensional colour.
The result, Garnier has introduced a colourant numbering system. It works by having one number to represent the depth or darkness of the colour and a secondary number to represent the ‘reflects’ of the shade, making your shade more than just a flat colour. The depth of the colour ranges from 1-10 (black to blonde) with the reflect range of 1-6 starting at ash/cool blondes to glowing, warm shades.

The three shades of the British Blondes range, developed to specifically satisfy the taste of Britain’s golden girls, are the lightest colours out on the market at the moment with all given a ‘10’ on the scale. So from the golden English Rose to ashy Brighton Blonde to immaculate Chelsea Blonde, which one are you?
