 1 Conditioning is a must
No matter what your hair type, no matter what beautifying processes you use, you should always use a conditioner after shampooing. Keeping your hair moisturised will help strengthen it, prolong the time needed between cuts, and protect it from the rigours of daily styling.

2 The perfect amount
While you're in the shower, measure out a 50p sized blob of conditioner and smooth it down your wet, shampooed hair, ensuring you don't ruffle the cuticle. For extra moisture penetration, use a wide-tooth shower comb to work the conditioner through to the ends.

3 Keep your roots clear
When applying your conditioner, be sure to concentrate on the mid-lengths to ends of your hair only. Clogging the root area with conditioning products will only dull the hair and leave it looking limp, lacklustre and lifeless.

Apart from your regular conditioner, a real must for your hair is to have an intensive treatment on a weekly basis, especially if you regularly use heated styling tools or chemical colouring. This will give your hair the moisture boost it needs to stay healthy and lustrous.

Often a daily spritz of leave-in conditioner is enough for very fine or greasy hair, but it's worth investing in one, whatever your hair type, as an extra moisture kick. A leave-in treatment will help combat static and dry ends, as well as acting like a light styling lotion, adding hold and definition

7 Back to the start
If your hair is very, very dry, it's worth investing in a pre-treatment. These should be applied to wet hair before you shampoo. They will rehydrate parched locks without weighing them down.
