Cold weather and central heating can leave hair looking dull and limp. Bring your locks back to life with our five point winter rescue plan!
1) Give your locks some serious TLC
If your hair feels dull and flat, using a deep conditioning mask on your hair once or twice a week will help it to look healthier, as well as banishing frizz and adding shine. You don't need to spend a fortune to find a good one – lots of high street brands have great versions for less than a tenner.
2) Use protection
When you're constantly moving from the icy outdoors into centrally heated homes and offices, the differences in temperature can make your hair go haywire. Try spritzing your hair with leave-in conditioner before blowdrying each morning, or use a humidity seal – you should notice a big improvement in the amount of frizz you have to do battle with.
3) Put a hat on!
Not only will a big woolly hat keep you snug, they're great for keeping your hair under wraps on the walk to work and preventing an attack of wind-blown, frizz-filled locks. Just avoid using hairspray before you put it on as this will give you hat hair for the rest of the day!
4) Serum saviour
Applying serum through your mid-lengths and ends adds shine and keeps hair sleek, but can also protect it from the elements and stop your hair from becoming dry. Invest in a good quality product – it'll last ages as you only need to use a drop or two a day.
5) Turn down the heat
Leaving off hairdryers and straighteners for a few days is a fab idea if you want to give your hair a break and improve its condition, but it's often not practical to abandon your appliances if you need to step out the front door! You can still benefit your hair by using your tools on a lower heat setting – your locks will thank you for gentle treatment during the winter!
