50s style backcombed hair is always a winner and Kelly Osbourne works it beautifully
1. To achieve this look, it’s best to work with hair that hasn’t been freshly washed, perhaps the day after washing so it’s easier to style. If you can, however, plan ahead and blow-dry hair straight after you do wash it, so that you can just straighten out any random wavy bits quickly before working on it.
2. Select small sections of hair from the back of the head (leave the front bits for now) and each at a time, backcomb from the tip to root whilst holding the hair tightly for a good, strong impact. It’s best to use a thin and fine comb for this to ensure each strand of hair is worked on.
3. Once you’ve backcombed all of the back section, it should look quite big but don’t worry, it’ll fall out a tiny bit and will just need some hairspray to tame it a little. Now straighten the front bits, turning the tong inwards to the hair frames your face rather than flicking out or hanging dead straight. Apply plenty of hairspray so that the backcombed area is stiff and stays in place.
