Young Hairdresser of the Year!

As I was waiting to go on stage with the five other finalists and our models I thought I was actually going to pass out, the nerves had really got to me! It had already been an amazing day, I have been surrounded by some of the biggest names in the industry such as Phil Smith, Tim Scott-Wright and Rob Eaton and top hair mag editors... I was so honoured to get to the final six, that is such an achievement in itself.

 

They started to call our names individually and as we walked out I was amazed by how many people where watching in the audience - I found out after there were 6,000

people! Luckily Jane Lewis-Orr got straight down to business and read the results. 

 

As they called MY name I went into complete shock! I didn't know how to

react! To cry or cheer! This was the last result I expected as I hadn't

dared allowed myself the thought of winning!!! While trying to hold back my

tears I walked down the runway with my fabulous model Fran, trying to take

it all in so I won't ever forget what it felt like.

 

As soon as we are back stage the judges were there congratulating me and making me feel like an absolute star. Then I remember I've also won 2 front cover photo shoots with the top hair mags HJ and Your Hair, £1,000 and a trophy! This has to be the best day of my life so far, I'm still in shock and cannot wait to do my photo shoots! I know I couldn't have done it with out the support from Errol and the team and my great make

up artist Gemma Aldous!

 

I instantly knew I wanted to do a copper colour, the tone is perfect for this season. I wanted to acheive a bold, vivid and directional shade. The cut is a strong shape but still soft and touchable, and shooting profile meant I could do something completely different on the other side, which I undercut – it’s like two opportunities to present the haircut. It was Eighties inspired; one side was soft and the other edgy which brings it bang up to date. It's all so exciting, bring on 2010!
